Homemade Chicken Burger Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and your favorite condiments (e.g., mayo, ketchup, mustard)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Patties:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • Mix everything together until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as it can make the burgers tough.
    • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. Make them slightly larger than the buns since they'll shrink a bit while cooking.
  2. Cook the patties:

    • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat.
    • Once hot, add the chicken patties. Cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the patties are golden brown and cooked through.
    • If you prefer, you can also cook the patties on a preheated grill for the same amount of time.
  3. Assemble the burgers:

    • Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in the skillet for a minute or two.
    • Spread your desired condiments on the buns.
    • Place the chicken patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, or any other toppings you like.
    • Cover with the top half of the bun.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve the chicken burgers hot with your favorite sides like fries, coleslaw, or a simple salad.

Enjoy your homemade chicken burgers!
